A temple dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara, sits on the hill top of Kalapahad, overlooking the Hussain Sagar lake. The architecture is a blend of North and South Indian styles of temple architecture. A breath taking view of the city can be seen from atop the temple, a monument of grandeur and magnificence in marble.

The Charminar is Hyderabad’s best known historical landmark. It was built in 1591 by Sultan Mohammad Quli Qutub Shah as a talisman to ward off dreadful epidemic. A grand view of the entire city can be seen from atop the Charminar’s four 53 metre high minarets.

Situated on the western outskirts of Hyderabad, Golkonda Fort was rebuilt by Qutub Shah in 1525. It was famous as a diamond market. It gave the world the most beautiful Kohinoor and other Hope diamonds. A fantastic modern acoustical system was desighned by which a handclap sounded at the gates can be heard right up in the citade. Close by are the tombs of the 6 Qutub Shahi Kings contained in beautiful domed mousoles.

Situated vey near to Charminar, it is one of the largest and most impressive mosques in South India. A unique feature of Mecca Masjid is its massive door arches and colonnades were carved from a single slab of granite. The Mecca Masjid was started by the Moghul Emperor Aurangazeb in 1687.

The world famous Salar Jung Museum displays around 35,000 antique and art objects collected by Nawab Salar Jung III , Prime Minister to the Niazm of Hyderabad reputed to be the world’s largest one man collection. The most important exhibits are the Turban & Ivory chairs of Tipu Sultan, Aurangzeb’s diamond studded Sword, veiled statues of Rebecca and Margarita – Mephistopheles.

Tank Bund

The bund was built in the 16th centure by the Sultan Ibrahim Quli Qutub Shah, which is the link between the Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The Bronze Statues of 33 Historical Personages adorn one side of Tank Bund. The Bund built on the Hussain Sagar Lake is further enhanced by an added attraction of boating & water sports in the Lake.

The Nehru Zoolagical Park setup in 1959 is a ntural habitat of all types of Birds and Animal species, spread over 300 acres of undulating landscape. The Lion Safari Park is the first of its kind in South Asia. Inside the zoo is a Museum of Natural History, ancient life & extinct animals in reconstructed moulds.

In Hussain Sagar Lake over looking Tank Bund, is the gigantic 73 feet statue on the rock of Gibraltar.
